Canada Day is being marked differently this year for many, as the nation continues to reflect on the country’s colonial legacy and the ongoing injustices faced by Indigenous people.

We chose to wear orange today in recognition that the Residential School System is a tragedy that had negative and enduring effects on generations.

Today we are choosing to reconcile our knowledge of Canada's dark past, with the same nation which has given us countless opportunities, and fills us with pride.

So while we will wish you and your families a Happy Canada Day we will also say Every Child Matters 🧡
