The Generation Gap in Your Feed
Have you noticed brands posting two versions of the same ad lately? One side is labelled "Millennial" and the other "Gen Z." This is a major marketing trend right now that looks at how differently we talk online.
The Millennial Side
This side is all about being professional and clear. It uses full sentences and explains why a product is good. It feels like a friendly, expert advisor who wants to make sure you have all the facts.
The Gen Z Side
This side is short and "unserious." It uses lowercase letters, emojis, and slang. It doesn't explain much because it wants to match the fast and funny energy of platforms like TikTok.
The Lesson for Business
This trend shows that "one-size-fits-all" marketing is over. Even if you are a senior professional, you need to know how to adjust your voice. A decade ago, being "polished" was the only way to be professional. Today, being "real" and knowing the local "vibe" is just as important.

What to Cut and What to Keep in Your 2026 Marketing Budget
Grant Lee | Trainer, Mentor, and Specialist in Applied Marketing
With economic uncertainty lingering in Canada, marketers are tasked with a difficult balancing act: managing limited budgets while simultaneously driving growth. The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (Ai) complicates the balancing act, presenting both opportunities for unprecedented efficiency and the risk of falling behind in applications of Ai.
Justify Every Dollar – Not New But a Persistent Force in Marketing
Every line item is under scrutiny, and the ability to demonstrate a clear return on investment (ROI) is paramount. Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) tend to prioritize ROI as their primary metric for budget allocation, a clear signal of the shift towards a more data-driven and accountable approach to marketing spend.
To meet these demands, marketers must adopt a mindset of zero-based budgeting. Instead of simply adjusting the previous year’s budget, zero-based budgeting requires justifying every expense from scratch. This forces a critical evaluation of all marketing activities, ensuring that every dollar is aligned with strategic priorities and contributes to the bottom line.
Eliminating Waste
Before making a case for new investments, it is important to first demonstrate a commitment to efficiency by eliminating waste. Here are the key areas to consider for waste reduction:

Telling Your Story Authentically
by Kathy Majkut | Content Development, Copywriting
Whether you were a witness to the Internet being born or grew up with it, you have most likely learned how to spot a polished veneer, a staged photo-op or the empty promises of “influencer culture”. Consequently, you have learned to be a discerning audience and that is why, when it comes to telling your own story, you have a desire to be authentic.
Being authentic, whether you’re marketing a business or just posting on your own social media, is everything. It’s how you build a genuine connection with people. It’s how you earn their trust and, with it, their loyalty.
Telling your story authentically means you must risk being vulnerable and willing to tell the unvarnished truth. When you have the courage to share the struggle of how you learned a hard lesson, or how you were able to pivot to a new direction, you forge a powerful connection with your audience.
Sharing your failures, challenges, and successes humanizes you. It tells your audience, “I am a person, not a perfectly curated bot.“ It also sparks empathy because when you show you are vulnerable, you create a space for others to feel seen. Someone else is probably going through a similar experience, and your honest narrative gives them permission to feel, to try again, or just to know they are not alone. This builds a sense of community.
