“Rupee” from The Legend of Zelda. The main currency in the game, each color being a different value:
Green - 1
Blue - 5
Red - 20
Purple - 50
Orange - 200
This was a fun one to make. It was fun working with different transparencies and imperfections. I didn’t want these looking too crisp, since they’re a common currency and probably get tossed around a lot. They had to feel like something you’d find in some tall grass or a poor doomed pot.
Maybe BOTW2 is taking so long because they’re doing the same rendering I am…
“Brick Block” from pretty much every Mario game. Not really and item or collectible, but iconic nonetheless. I wanted to do something that wasn’t gold to experiment with some different materials. I made a procedural brick and grout material for this one.
Sticking with the Banjo Kazooie gold collectible theme, here is the Extra Honeycomb Piece. In Banjo Kazooie if you collect 6 of these your health bar (honeycombs) increases.
It turns out these have been given different names in different games. They’re called Empty Honeycombs in Banjo Tooie, and then renamed again to Hollow Honeycombs in the Game Boy Advance game Banjo Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge (a game I just heard of during this project). I stuck to the original naming since that’s the game I’m playing though.
No matter what you call them, they’re valuable on your adventure, so I felt they deserved their own little display.
