Yes, In My Backyard! 🌿

Meet our newest trail, YIMBY! It’s still a work in progress, so it’s an out-and-back for now. But big things are coming: we’re planning to connect it to our Phase II trails, crossing Neck & Gully onto Pine Island.

YIMBY isn’t just a name, it’s how we protect the watershed and backlands. Instead of saying “not in my backyard,” we’re saying yes to trails that protect what makes this place special. Keeping folks on trail helps preserve the unique ecosystem and the species that call it home.

The trail may look raw now, but give it time, it’s freshly built. This green-level trail will be lush and beautiful before you know it! We also gave the In-Out trail a little love: smoother tread, easier access, and still green-level. Perfect for a more accessible, mellow ride or hike.

Cycling Nova Scotia and the Spryfield Community Association (SCA) invite you to participate in an upcoming session to discuss the development of a proposed Active Transportation Network for the Spryfield community.

This project is part of Cycling Nova Scotia’s Core Active Transportation Networks initiative—a program that offers free consultation and concept design services to help communities across the province develop grassroots, community-led AT network plans. The Spryfield Community Association has taken the lead in partnering with Cycling NS to ensure that the vision, values, and needs of local residents shape the design of future infrastructure.

Your insight is key to building the community vision. These sessions provide an opportunity to:

- Learn about the preliminary network map (see attached) and key findings from our first-round community visioning session.

- Review initial route connections and amendments informed by slope constraints and best practices.

- Share your perspective, highlight opportunities or challenges that may have been overlooked, and help guide next steps as we move toward concept-level design (identifying infrastructure facility types, bike lanes, sidewalks, crossing ext.).

If you cannot attend or are curious about the current scope of work, we encourage you to visit our project webpage. There, you can complete our phase one online survey, comment directly on the interactive draft network map and find out about pop-up engagement session dates.
