PTI NZ to attend Tonga Fresh Produce Trade Forum

Delegates from Pacific Trade Invest NZ, including Trade Commissioner Glynis Miller, will be at the 4th Pacific Week of Agriculture and Forestry (PWAF), to be held at Tonga High School Gymnasium in Nuku’alofa on Wednesday 28 May 2025.

The theme for the event is: TRANSFORMING AGRICULTURE THROUGH ENHANCED TRADE, UNDERPINNED BY MARKET INSIGHT AND NZ BIOSECURITY COMPLIANCE.

All this with a strategic view of increasing production throughout the value chain to market access.
A series of side events will focus on:
• More Regeneration: Addressing issues related to soils, genetic biodiversity of crops, forests, livestock, ecology, organics, and the environment.
• More Productivity: Focusing on rural farmers, women and youth, livelihoods, food security, and the production of crops, livestock, and forests.
• More Resilience: Biosecurity and pest management. Enhancing pre-disaster preparedness, improving the capacity to withstand and recover from disasters, and adapting to rising sea levels and temperatures through research and adoption.
Participants at PWAF will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts in the field, attend interactive workshops and sessions, and network with industry professionals.

On May 5th, we honour and remember the lives of Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people who have been taken too soon, and we stand in solidarity with their families, survivors, and communities who continue to seek justice, healing, and systemic change.

🧵 The red dress has become a powerful symbol—a visual reminder of the loved ones who are missing and the urgent need to address the violence faced by Indigenous women and gender-diverse people across Turtle Island.

🗣️ Educate yourself and others about the National Inquiry’s Calls for Justice

Volunteering Rocks!

Hundreds of residents of a Michigan community formed a human chain to help a local bookshop move each of its 9,100 books — one by one — to a new storefront located about a block away. The “book brigade,” consisting of around 300 people, stood in two lines running along a sidewalk in downtown Chelsea on Sunday, passing each title from Serendipity Books' former location directly to the correct shelves in the new building.
