Most retirement planning still assumes the future will look roughly like the past. After 35+ years as a retirement planner, I now look to help with the transition to this new AI-impacted world.

The retirement we knew I think will be dramatically different - and soon. I don’t think planning without taking into account AI and robotics is safe anymore.

AI, robotics, and healthy life extension are now moving so quickly that even people who are interested can feel overwhelmed. New tools, new medical possibilities, new job impacts, new risks, new opportunities — it is a lot to keep up with.

But here is the key point:

You do not need to become a tech expert.

You do need to stay curious enough to understand what may affect your health, your work, your money, your independence, and your family over the next decade.

That is especially true for those of us in the 55+ stage of life. We may be planning “retirement,” but retirement itself is being reshaped.

In my latest article, I look at why staying current with AI and related technologies matters — not from a hype perspective, but from a practical “how do I position myself wisely?” perspective.

The big message: AI is not just something happening to us. Used well, it can become a tool for agency.
