This past weekend I was both honoured and humbled to participate in the Natural Building East symposium at the Deanery Project, and to present our ongoing work with the Dalhousie School of Architecture and Planning and the Housing First Society to design and build resilient micro-home communities. Our work is guided in large part by the principles espoused by E.F. Schumacher in his seminal book: "Small is Beautiful - Economics as if People Mattered."

Time well spent if you ask me

In what little free time Charles and Ray Eames had, they would occasionally spend a Saturday morning at the hardware store, admiring fittings, hardware, and tools of all shapes and functions. Occasionally, some of those same objects would find their way to the Eames House and Studio, having demonstrated some quality that the Eameses found useful or beautiful!
