In the final weeks of her life, Evelyn was moved to Niagara for the sake of her health.

“The air is so wonderfully pure & fresh.”

What was meant to bring rest instead became the setting of her final decline — sleepless nights, fading strength, and increasing dependence on those who stayed beside her.

“She had not been sleeping very well for a week or ten days… and day by day she was fading away before my eyes.”

Niagara became not a place of recovery, but of waiting.
