Rae Lockdust (they/he) is a passionate q***r community organizer focused on inclusive events in Hamilton and the Niagara region.

They are the founder of Uncloseted Comedy, a showcase celebrating q***r joy. Uncloseted is the second Thursday of each month in Hamilton at The Staircase Theatre about to celebrate its third annual Uncloseted Comedy Pride Festival.

Rae is dedicated to fostering safe and creative spaces, blending advocacy, creativity, and a love for bringing people together and looks forward to bringing you the third year of the festival of q***r joy!

Today, March 31st, is the annual Transgender Day Of Visibility. A day honouring the resilience of the community and celebrating the power behind visibility.

To be visible is to be vulnerable, and to be vulnerable when your existence is denied is a symbol of strength.

Today raises awareness of and the impact of discrimination, but also the beauty of authenticity.

To show up as your authentic self in a world that tries to erase your history, present and future.

Our existence is resistance, our joy is revolution. The trans community embodies relentless strength.

Beyond surviving, we thrive, love and celebrate who we are.

Q***r joy is our rebellion; it’s proof that we are here and will always be. Keep shining, keep fighting, keep living out loud and spread joy!
