TUNNY was a German encryption device introduced in the early 1940s. It could simultaneously encipher and transmit messages, saving a great deal of time. The British developed data processing equipment to attack TUNNY, which led to the construction of COLOSSUS. The first current TUNNY traffic was read at in 1942.
