107 km/h in a 60 Zone: Driver Charged with Stunt Driving
On July 8, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m., officers from the South Simcoe Police Traffic Unit stopped a vehicle travelling 107 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone on Yonge Street near Meadowland Street in the Town of Innisfil.
At the time of the incident, pedestrians were in the area, and the vehicleβs excessive speed posed an increased risk to pedestrians and other road users.
A 29-year-old female from Barrie has been charged with:
π« Drive Motor Vehicle β Perform Stunt (speeding 40 km/h or more over the limit in a zone where the posted speed limit is less than 80 km/h). Her driver's licence was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

π¨ 7 Charges Laid: Know the Rules Before You Ride Your E-Bike, ATV or Off-Road Vehicle ποΈ
Operating an off-road vehicle illegally can result in fines, charges, and enforcement action.
This morning, a 26-year-old Innisfil man learned that firsthand after being charged with 7 offences under the Highway Traffic Act when South Simcoe Police Traffic Unit officers stopped him operating a modified e-bike travelling 54 km/h on 20th Sideroad, south of Killarney Beach Road in the Town of Innisfil.
Under Ontario law, e-bikes must not exceed 32 km/h. When modified beyond the legal speed or power limits, they may no longer qualify as a power-assisted bicycle and can be considered a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act, requiring proper licensing, registration, and insurance.
Charges included:
β’ Driving while under suspension
β’ Driving without a licence
β’ Driving without a permit
β’ Driving without plates
β’ Operating a motor vehicle without insurance
β’ Failing to surrender insurance card
β’ Modified power-assisted bicycle (speed/power)
South Simcoe Police are reminding the public that off-road vehicles must be operated in accordance with applicable laws and municipal regulations.
What is an off-road vehicle? Off-road vehicles include:
ποΈ Dirt bikes
π ATVs (four-wheelers)
π UTVs / side-by-sides
Reminder: Off-road vehicles are NOT permitted on any roads in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury at any time.
ATVs in Innisfil:
ATVs are permitted on some municipal roads in Innisfil, only if:

Driver has a valid G2 licence or higher
β
One rider only
β
An approved helmet is worn
β
Headlights and tail lights are on
β
Properly plated and insured
β
Not operated between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
π« UTVs/side-by-sides and dirt bikes are not permitted on Innisfil roadways and may only be used on private property with the ownerβs permission.
Operating an off-road vehicle where it is not permitted, or without required licensing, insurance, or safety requirements, may result in enforcement action.

Our hearts are with the Durham Regional Police Service following the tragic loss of a Constable in Training and the life-threatening injuries sustained by another in a tragic motor vehicle collision near the Ontario Police College.
Police in Training represent the future of our profession. They begin their journey with a commitment to serve their communities with courage, integrity, and honour. The loss of a Constable in Training at the very start of that journey is extremely heartbreaking.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, classmates, instructors, and all members of the Durham Regional Police Service. We also keep the injured Constable in Training, their loved ones, and colleagues in our thoughts and prayers.
We are a policing family, and the SSPS family stands with Chief Peter Moreira, the Durham Regional Police Service, and everyone affected by this heartbreaking loss. We grieve alongside you, and together we will continue to support one another through the difficult days ahead. π

UPDATED: SUSPECT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED
The South Simcoe Police Service is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a retail theft investigation.
On June 12, 2026, officers responded to a report of a retail theft at an LCBO in Innisfil. The suspect selected merchandise, concealed the items in a purse, and left the store without making any attempt to pay.
The suspect is described as a female with tanned complexion, a heavy-set build, long, wavy dark brown hair to the shoulders, and a tattoo on her right wrist. At the time of the incident, she was wearing black 3/4-length capri pants, a camouflage t-shirt, a ball cap with a decal on the front and carrying a red purse.
