We are proud of our crew who has been working hard to reopen . We are happy to say the highway is now open in the Cameron Lake area following a closure due to wildfires.

Crews have installed safety measures to allow the roadway to reopen with a temporary concrete barrier wall and protective mesh curtains. They are designed to prevent falling rocks and trees from tumbling into the path of motorists.

While some of our guys are busy on reopening Highway 4 we still have a crew working in Summerland on Highway 97 to try to get the highway back to regular capacity after the recent landslide.

Crews are working hard to reopen #BCHwy97 in #Summerland to regular capacity after a recent landslide. This includes geotechnical engineers using air bags to safely remove unstable soil and materials. Air bags are lowered into the tension cracks of the unstable material and then inflated so that the crack expands, and blocks of material are dislodged. This gives better control over how much material is released at a time. There will be intermittent closures of this stretch of highway during off-peak hours ranging from 20-30 minutes over the next 7-10 days to accommodate this work.
