🌱 A silver step forward for sustainable tourism. Congratulations to RTO8 and Kawarthas Northumberland on earning Silver Destination Certification through GreenStep’s Sustainable Tourism Destination Standard.

This milestone recognizes meaningful progress in balancing tourism growth with environmental protection, cultural preservation, and community well-being. With a new Sustainability Action Plan guiding the next three years, the region is strengthening its visitor economy while protecting what makes Kawarthas Northumberland special for generations to come.

🌱 Last week at the Tourism Industry Association of Manitoba Advocacy Forum, GreenStep’s Angela Nagy led a presentation and workshop on Building a Sustainable Future for Manitoba Tourism.

The session explored what sustainable and regenerative tourism truly means and guided participants through the process of conducting a sustainability assessment, and learning how to measure, implement, and share all aspects of sustainability within their tourism business.
