We’re growing. And we’re looking for people to grow with us.
SOAR is a national charity working at a critical intersection: brain injury caused by intimate partner violence. This is where gender-based violence, neuroscience, and systems change meet – and where action is urgently needed.
We’re recruiting new members for our Board of Directors.
🧠Why SOAR?
Because intimate partner violence-caused brain injury is under-researched, under-recognized, and under-funded.
Because too many survivors aren’t getting the care they deserve.
And because we’re working to change that.
🧠Why you?
Because you bring something we need.
Maybe it’s board governance or strategy experience.
Maybe it’s lived experience.
Maybe it’s a deep commitment to equity and systems change.
What matters most is you care – and you’re ready to help shape a national conversation.
Our Board is active, collaborative, and forward-moving. Our directors help guide strategy, open doors to partnerships, and strengthen the reach and integrity of our work.
We welcome applications from across Canada and from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

A valuable new resource on IPV-BI is now available!
The Ohio Domestic Violence Network and its Center on Partner-Inflicted Brain Injury have released an updated version of Invisible Injuries: When You've Been Strangled or Hurt in the Head, Neck or Face. It's a 20-page survivor-centred guide covering brain injury and strangulation, signs and symptoms, and practical strategies for self-advocacy and brain health.
Written with an accessibility and trauma-informed lens, this resource is designed to support individuals experiencing domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking. A Spanish version is also coming soon.
Find it on SOAR's resources page and through this link.https://www.odvn.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/InvisibleInjuries2026_web.pdf
