THE HOT MIC - Here is today's Kat's Kourt. What would your advice be?:

"I need help from some parents who have been in a similar situation. My son has a soccer friend (which is great to see because he doesn’t make friends easily). They are 7 years old. Since April he has been hanging out with him before and after practices. I have helped out where I can because sometimes the parents work. So I will pick him up and take them to the park beforehand, and drop him off home or keep him at my place after. I have no problem with that.

BUT a week ago I was shocked. Mom and Dad dropped him for a game and only stayed for like 5 min before they came up to me and asked me if I can take him home. Afterward, I drove him home like they asked. When I got there, the parents were in the living room watching a movie. They weren’t working… And the boy is an only child so I know it had nothing to do with other kid obligations. They just… didn’t come. The kid kept asking during the game if his parents were coming back which broke my heart.
Now I’m torn. I’m not his parent, but I’m the one who shows up.

Do I have the right to say something, or ask why they wouldn’t go? They didn’t say a thing just a “thanks”. Am I crossing a line if I ask why? Seems like they have no excuses and now I just feel like a bit of a glorified babysitter. I need it to end but I worry they just wont bring him to the games if I do, and that isn’t fair to him."
