Getting Nacho and Sir Buttermilk Pancakes ready for spooky season!

I regret to tell you lovely people that Piggly, my hamster supermodel who really, legitimately, loved wearing the hats I needle felted for her, has crossed the rainbow bridge. She was so wonderful and epic and unique, it feels unfair that such a bright personality should only have two years on this earth.

But, her legacy will live on. I have little Nacho, who is even more patient about hats than Piggly. And now I have another addition to the hat-wearing-hamster clan: Sir Buttermilk Pancakes. He's a natural; I was too upset about losing Piggly to actually attempt training him in the first two days I got him. I just petted his head a lot and then thought, hey, let's see if he'll wear a hat. HE WEARS HATS.

My felted hats aren't attached in any way -- they will fall right off if he moves much or if he wants to bat it off. But I've found that so far, three out of three hamsters agree: it's nice to just sit and have a hat on your head.
