Scam Alert!! If anybody receives this as a tag or a post it is completely bogus, nothing to do with the lodge and highly questionable.
The link is probably suspect and even if it's just somebody trying to sell shirts, they didn't ask us about it.
Beware and avoid!!
We apologize for any confusion these pirates may have caused!

If anybody has read the new, Autumn edition newsletter that is available at yellowpointlodge.com or our lobby, you'll know that last week featured the annual talent show, organized by our guests, to raise funds for the Friends of Yellow Point's M.G. Hill memorial education fund.
There were a number of entertaining performances including comedy, poetry and several musical performances, (including a kazoo band). The first photo is a hybrid performance with Suzanne playing her violin while April produced an original artwork on the spot, in front of everybody, (here seen in it's early stages, last names withheld for privacy concerns.)
The participants were too numerous to mention but special thanks have to go to Jane, Barb and Bill for getting everybody organized and hosting such a fun event that saw the main lounge pretty much filled to capacity.
At press time, the proceeds from this event alone were in the nieghbourhood of $2,500 which will all go to the scholarship fund that our staff people who have to pay for school can apply for every fall.
Many thanks to Lynnda, Pieta and Maureen for keeping the fund organized and many more thanks to all the participants, spectators and donors who made this heart warming event possible.

Here we all are being safe again. (please see previous 'fire department' post).
This is some of our staff people who recently went through another round of 'Basic First Aid' training with St. John Ambulance in Nanaimo. (the photo was obviously taken right after the 'arm bandaging' segment.)
We have a total of 17 people certified here now, with another class booked for November when more people will be free.
I'd highly recommend this course to any and everyone. We've been offering them to our staff since the mid 1980's and I have used my training several times. It is very good to have an idea of what to do in case of an emergency, and believe me, the 'other person' involved will be very happy that you took this one day course.
It is worth it just for the hands on training with the A.E.D.s that are showing up in more and more places these days and was a fun way to spend a day with some 'like minded' people.
Please check 'sja.ca', sign up, have fun and save a life!

Don't panic, this is actually a good thing. A couple of weeks ago, our local 'pearls of the community', the North Oyster Volunteer Fire Department had their 'Tuesday night fire practice' at the lodge for the annual 'familiarization and orientation' tour for new and existing members.
They thank us for the opportunity to learn more about what they may have to face in the event of a fire, but we are much more appreciative to them for taking the time and making the effort to become more aware of our facilities and systems in case that day of all days to be prevented arrives.
I thought this would be a good photo to kick-off July with as it is now time for everyone to double down on fire safety awareness and water conservation measures.
Thanks to all our guests and staff for being prudent and aware and many thanks to the N.O.F.D. for standing at the ready.
