Ben Rainer & Alessio Dagostini are a dynamic violin/trumpet and piano duo blending jazz, folk, and fiddle traditions with improvisational flair.
Ben, a multi-instrumentalist and founder of the Nanaimo District Secondary School jazz combo, has been playing violin since the age of 3. An alumnus of the nationally acclaimed fiddle ensemble Fiddelium, he also performs on trumpet and has taken the stage at numerous events including the West Coast Jazz Festival.
Alessio has been studying piano since age 8 and has been a member of both Ladysmith Secondary School’s concert and jazz band, as well as a co-director of the Nanaimo District Secondary School Jazz Combo. Alessio is also known for his expressive original compositions influenced by a mix of jazz and classical artists, as well as soundtracks spanning various modern media
Together, they bring a spirited energy to every stage they share rooted in deep friendship, years of collaboration, and a shared love of music.

From 5:30-7:30pm they will be playing a mix of jazz standards and fiddle/folk tunes.
