Mother Nature is starting to wake up, so we are in full farm mode.

✔️ Planted 120 Canaan (Balsam) firs. These can handle the wet conditions in one section of our field. (We had nearly 100% loss with Frasers in the same area, as they don't like wet conditions.
✔️ Conditioned the soil to improve its structure & fertility. (We are doing this in multiple ways this Spring, moving towards regenerative farming.)
TO DO: Transplant 400+ potted Fraser firs (in other sections of the field). We should have the entire back field completely planted for the first time.

Every spare moment of the next few weeks will have us in the fields.

The longest night of the year is over. Hopefully your evening was spent in the glow of Christmas tree lights with a warm drink in hand.

This picture was sent in by one of our returning families. They found us in year two and we randomly realized that there was a Banff connection. So grateful that Kosta and Cyn's Dad could finally meet and spend time reminiscing about quieter days in their home town.

(The tree was a special order from one of our friend's farms. He brings in sub-alpines from Tulameen every year. They had to cut an additional 3 feet off the top to fit it into the house.)

When we opened our farm five years ago, Jon and I wanted to create something really special. Knowing we were a smaller farm in an area with plenty of established, larger tree farms, we knew that prioritizing relationships with our visiting families was who we wanted to be. We were also intentional about being outwardly-focused and finding ways to support our local community and other charitable endeavors.

Every year, we donate 10% of our profits to a charity. This year, along with several vendors and friends, we donated to in honour of Cynthia's Dad (on the left) who was diagnosed with Parkinsons three years ago. If you joined us during our first weekend, he was one of our greeters and parking lot attendees.

We are deeply grateful to our families who, by visiting our farm, support other good work.
