RESPONSE TO BC PROVINCIAL HEALTH OFFICER RESTRICTIONS PUT INTO PLACE ON NOV 7, 2020

IN-CLASS TRAINING WILL NOT BE CANCELLED

In-class Utility Arborist training will continue as planned, unless further restrictions from the Provincial Health Officer are put into place.

We have maximized physical distancing in our classroom, and have implemented a mask-wearing policy in all public areas of the training facility. Sanitizing supplies, and masks, are available for all students. Students will be seated at their desks for the duration of classroom training (i.e. physical activities are not involved), and physical distancing will be maximized and easily maintainable during field training.

As always, we ask that you DO NOT come for training if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 or are feeling unwell, have traveled outside of the country within the last 14 days, or have come into contact with a positive COVID-19 case within the last 14 days.

**Applicants MUST be registered in the Utility Arborist Apprenticeship and have received a ID # from SkilledTrades BC prior to registering for the Level 1 technical course. Without a ID # we cannot accept applications. Thank you for your understanding.**

UPDATE: FALL 2020 UTILITY ARBORIST PROGRAMS RESUMING

In accordance with WorkSafeBC, the Centre for Disease Control, and special guidelines put in place by Industry Training Authority (ITA) for EITI regarding COVID-19 concerns, we have received approval and will be resuming instructor-led Utility Arborist Apprenticeship programs starting in October 2020.

UTILITY ARBORIST LEVEL 1
Originally Scheduled for February 23 - March 13, 2020

The ITA has waived the Level 1 Final Exam requirement for students that were in the middle of Level 1 training during the COVID-19 shutdown. Students will be required to complete their practical training in order to receive their final mark, but they will not be required to write the Final Exam, and will be automatically given their Level credit (provided they pass practical training).

UTILITY ARBORIST LEVEL 2
Originally Scheduled for April 27 - May 8, 2020

Programs will be moving forward at REDUCED CAPACITY in order to maintain physical distancing requirements, which means that we will be breaking 1 program into 2. The CofQ Examinations will not be waived by the ITA.

UTILITY ARBORIST PROGRAMS - UPDATE

EITI is currently working on a plan to resume training after the province moves to Phase 3. When this happens, training may look quite different in order to maintain the required physical distances as set out by the province and WorkSafeBC.

We are currently consulting with the Industry Training Authority (ITA) on how to best approach trades training moving forward.

We will provide an update as soon as possible to all of our Utility Arborist sponsors and students, but for now, all of our apprenticeship programs are still on hold.

UPDATES
Our April 2020 UA Level 2 course has been postponed to a TBA date.

Due to the ongoing circumstances and low registration, our May 2020 UA Level 1 program has been cancelled. We will be sending notices out this week to our registrants to offer them to move to the October 2020 course instead.
