When I was three years old with a profound to severe hearing loss, my family moved from Toronto to Edmonton so I could attend Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital.

The people who helped me find my voice shaped my lifelong passion for accessibility, inclusion, and advocacy.

I am forever grateful. ❤️

Please watch “Heard” the new Telus documentary now streaming.

Today I’m wearing red.

Our communities are stronger when every woman and girl is safe, seen, and valued.

Today we remember, and we stand together.

This morning, my backyard in Walnut Grove sounded like a full orchestra.

Owls calling, wrens chattering, sparrows singing, and even a few migratory warblers passing through. 🐦

In just one morning, there were:
Barred Owl, Bewick’s Wren, Yellow-rumped Warbler, American Goldfinch, Song Sparrow, House Finch, Northern Flicker, Bushtit, American Robin, Spotted Towhee… and more.

And it really got me thinking…

This is what green space does.

It’s not just “nice to have.”
It’s habitat. It’s protection. It’s part of a living system that supports wildlife right alongside our neighbourhoods.

These birds rely on:
• Trees for nesting and safety
• Shrubs and undergrowth for cover
• Natural spaces to feed, rest, and migrate

When we talk about parks, greenways, and preserving natural areas in Langley, this is what we’re talking about.

Not just land.
A home for wildlife.
A space for people to connect, slow down, and actually hear this kind of morning.

Moments like this are a reminder that how we grow matters.

Today is the National Day of Mourning.

A day to remember the workers who never made it home, and the families who carry that loss every day.

Working in a physical job, I see firsthand how important safety is. The early mornings, the heavy lifting, the routines we sometimes take for granted. It only takes one moment for everything to change.

Today isn’t about politics. It’s about people.
It’s about remembering, and making sure we’re always looking out for each other.

Because every worker deserves to go home at the end of their shift. 🖤

“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
🌿Jane Goodall

I had the opportunity to hear and meet Jane Goodall 8 years ago, and it’s something I’ve never forgotten. Here’s a small clip from that night 💚

Every Earth Day, I think about her passion, her work, and the way she’s inspired people all over the world to care a little more.

Grateful for this planet and the people who remind us to protect it 🌎💚
