Louie (15) and his adopted brother, Nacho, came in together for their grooming appointments. For Louie, that meant extra time in the tub with gentle massage, soft drying, and moving at a pace that helped him feel relaxed. For Nacho, it meant taking things one step at a time, with patience, treat breaks, comfort breaks, and listening to what he was telling me throughout the groom. Neither appointment was about achieving the perfect haircut. They were about building trust, creating positive experiences, and helping both dogs feel safe. Every dog deserves to be groomed with compassion. Sometimes the biggest success isn’t what you see at the end of the appointment—it’s how the dog feels when they leave. 🐾 Meet Apollo 🐾

❤️ Apollo is part of a very special group of dogs called *Paws of Promise* — a program born out of urgency, compassion, and hope.

📢 In late October, we received a message from a local rescue in Southern California asking for help with a heartbreaking hoarding situation involving 65 Chihuahuas. Without hesitation, we stepped in to help. Once the dogs were vaccinated and neutered, plans were made to bring them to safety in Canada. 🇨🇦

🚐 Thanks to an incredible rescue team and a community of dedicated volunteers, these little dogs made the long journey north to begin a new chapter.

💔 When they arrived, the effects of neglect were devastating. Many had never experienced kindness, affection, or even gentle handling. They were terrified of people and emotionally shut down.

🌾 We welcomed them to a safe farm where they could begin healing at their own pace. Their first victories were small but meaningful—taking treats from our hands, making eye contact, and slowly learning that people could be trusted again. 🥹❤️

🎓 Through our partnership with , each dog has completed weeks of intensive board-and-train with professional trainers, learning leash skills, confidence, and how to safely navigate the world. Their training and support continue long after the program ends.

✨ Today, these dogs are making incredible progress.

🌸🐾 Flower Update – July 11 🐾🌸

We are so happy to share that Flower is doing incredibly well! ❤️

🍽️ She has a great appetite and is eating lots.
🌿 She loves heading outside for little sniffs and potty breaks (she refuses to p*e inside! 😄).
🐕 She's even met our other two pups outside and has been wonderful with them.
💛 And our favorite part... we're getting lots of happy little tail wags! 🥹

The puppies are thriving too! 🐶💕 They are eating well, sleeping lots, getting stronger every day, and all of their little eyes are now open! 👀✨We believe mom is a Terrier X possible with a chihuahua and she is 9lbs.

🏡 The puppies have now been cleared for adoption, and we have started accepting deposits. They will be ready to head to their forever homes in approximately 6 weeks, pending their final veterinary clearance.

💛 A Little Update from Annie’s Little Paws Rescue 💛

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be slowing down our rescue intake and taking a short pause from bringing new dogs into the rescue.

With summer holidays upon us and many families taking vacations, this gives our dedicated volunteer team members the opportunity to focus on something that often gets put aside—their own health. Several members of our rescue team have been pushing themselves above and beyond for a very long time, working countless hours to save dogs in need. Now it’s time for us to take care of ourselves so we can come back healthy and ready to continue this important work.

✨ We aren’t going anywhere! ✨

During this time, our focus will be on the incredible dogs already in our care. We currently have over 15 amazing dogs and puppies in foster homes who are patiently waiting for their forever families. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing their stories, personalities, and updates, and we’d love your help in spreading the word.

Every adoption changes a life. When one of our foster dogs finds their forever home, it creates space for us to help another dog in need when we’re ready to resume intake.

We want to sincerely thank our amazing rescue partners, fosters, volunteers, adopters, donors, and supporters. Your kindness and encouragement mean the world to us, and because of you, we’re able to continue making a difference.

🌸 Meet Jill! 🌸

Jill is an adorable 3-year-old, 17 lb Terrier X with the sweetest, most gentle nature. 🐾💕

This lovely little girl is kind, quiet, and affectionate, and she’s looking for a patient family to help her continue building her confidence.

🏡 Jill is settling into foster care beautifully! She is excellent in both her crate and exercise pen, making her an easy companion around the home. Right now, she’s enjoying short walks to the grass while she gains confidence on leash, and she absolutely loves relaxing on the fenced patio—especially when she can soak up a warm ray of sunshine. ☀️🌿

💗 Her favorite thing? Gentle head scratches! She melts into them. Jill is also recovering well from her spay surgery, so her tummy is still a little tender, but she’s healing more every day.

🐱 She has been very respectful around cats, preferring to give them space. She also gets along with other dogs, though she may ultimately enjoy being the only spoiled pup in the home. As she continues to feel safe and loved, we’re excited to watch her personality continue to bloom. 🌼

🌸 Flower Update – July 5 🌸

We are so happy to share that Flower is continuing to improve! ❤️🐾 She is still under veterinary care and remains on medication as she recovers from pneumonia. While she still has a road ahead of her, she is making steady progress every day, and we are hopeful for a full recovery. 🩺💕

Flower has also been welcomed into a new foster home after her previous foster experienced an unexpected family emergency that required them to leave town. We are incredibly grateful to both foster families for their kindness and commitment to helping Flower during her recovery. 🏡❤️

Taffy has completely stolen my heart! ❤️

She's a goofy little character with a BIG personality and never fails to make me laugh. One minute she's doing zoomies around the yard, the next she's proudly carrying her own leash like she's taking me for a walk! 😂

Taffy loves people and gets along well with other dogs. She enjoys hiking, walks, exploring new places, and just being wherever her person is. She's happiest when she's included in the adventure.

She's still in her puppy phase, so she has lots of energy and is learning every day. She'll thrive with someone who is patient, active, and committed to continuing her training. The more time you spend with her, the stronger your bond becomes.

I've noticed Taffy mirrors the energy around her. When she's with calm, confident people, she settles beautifully. I also think she'd love a calm, well-balanced dog sibling to play with and learn from.

Taffy is an estimated 1-year-old, 23 lb Terrier mix currently located in Surrey BC❤️

When Taffy came into rescue, the condition of her coat told a heartbreaking story. Her fur was painfully matted, dirty, and neglected to the point that even moving must have been uncomfortable. Beneath all those tangled mats was a frightened little girl who had gone far too long without the love and care every dog deserves.

Despite everything she’s been through, Taffy has remained incredibly gentle. She wants to trust. She wants affection. She leans into kindness so softly, as if she’s hoping this time it’s forever. 🥹

Now that her painful mats are gone, Taffy is getting a fresh start. She is learning what it feels like to be safe, loved, and cared for, and her beautiful personality is beginning to shine. ✨

Taffy would thrive in a patient, loving home. She would do well with another friendly dog and would enjoy a family with respectful children to help burn off her young puppy energy. She is currently learning leash manners and is doing very well with her potty training. 🦮🏡
