🚨 Notice: Airport Bomb Threats May Affect Cargo & Passenger Flights

Attention PetJet clients and partners:

Today, multiple bomb threats were reported at several major Canadian airports, including Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver. These incidents led to evacuations, temporary ground stops, and delays across affected locations.

While operations have since resumed, departures and arrivals may still face delays, particularly for cargo and passenger flights. We are closely monitoring the situation and staying in direct communication with carriers and airport authorities.

🛫 How This May Impact You
• Passenger flights and cargo shipments may be delayed or adjusted on short notice.
• Our logistics, booking, and support teams are on standby to help with rescheduling if needed.
• We will contact you directly if your booking is impacted.

🔔 What You Should Do
• Monitor your flight status or scheduled transport.
• Reach out to your PetJet coordinator if you have urgent questions or need to rebook.
• Watch for updates via email, text, and our social media as we learn more.

✅ Bottom Line

Safety always comes first. While the threats are being managed and cleared, delays may ripple through the system today. Thank you for your understanding and continued trust.

• “If I fits, I sits—crate edition.”
• “They said I was a ‘good boy’ 3 times. I’m basically royalty now.”

🚨 No Tariffs on Dogs & Cats Imported Between the U.S. & Canada 🚨

If you’re planning to bring a dog or cat between the United States and Canada, it’s important to note that there are no tariffs—meaning no customs duties, just GST and HST/PST on live animals moving between the two countries. However, to ensure a smooth and compliant import process, you must adhere to specific health and documentation requirements.

Importing Pets into Canada 🇨🇦
• Rabies Vaccination: All dogs and cats aged 3 months or older must have a valid rabies vaccination certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian. This certificate should be in English or French and include detailed information about the pet and the vaccination.
• Health Certificate: While not always mandatory for personal pets, a health certificate may be required depending on the country of origin. It’s advisable to have one to avoid potential delays.
• Inspection: Upon arrival, pets may be subject to inspection by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to ensure they are healthy and documentation is in order.

Importing Pets into the U.S. 🇺🇸
• Rabies Vaccination: Dogs must have a valid rabies vaccination certificate. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires that dogs be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days before entry into the U.S.
• Health Certificate: While not federally mandated for personal pets, some states may require a health certificate. It’s recommended to check specific state requirements before traveling.
• Additional Requirements: As of August 1, 2024, the CDC has implemented updated import requirements for all dogs traveling to the U.S. Dogs that have been in countries classified as high-risk for dog rabies in the six months prior to entering the U.S. face additional restrictions.

Key Considerations
• Documentation: Ensure all necessary documents, such as rabies vaccination certificates and health certificates, are complete and accessible during travel.
• Inspection: Be prepared for possible inspections at border crossings to verify your pet’s health and documentation.
• State and Provincial Regulations: Beyond federal requirements, individual U.S. states or Canadian provinces may have additional regulations. It’s essential to research and comply with these local requirements before traveling.

At PetJet, we specialize in seamless, stress-free pet transportation across borders. Whether you’re relocating with your pet or handling a commercial import, we’re here to help you navigate the process smoothly!
