Last week I finished up this Stickley chest, a design from the early 1900's, they are usually built with drawers inside to be used as a brides chest. The craftman details on this design is a nice touch to the design and doesn't take away from the functionality of the chest.
Built of solid cherry wood, I left out the drawers, as it is to be used as a blanket/pillow chest, and added a lift support so that the lid softly closes. Lined with aromatic cedar, some handmade metal corner brackets and wrought iron square nails top it all off.
It is abit light in color now, but that beautiful cherry wood will darken over the next year or so and change to a more rich, deep color on it's own.
