We are saddened to share the passing of longtime community supporter and philanthropist Arthur “Art” Crooks, who passed away on April 16 at the age of 86. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary-Jane.

Art and Mary-Jane’s impact on our institution spans decades and reflects a deep belief in trades education, student opportunity and community growth. In 2010, the couple made a transformational gift establishing the Crooks School of Transportation, helping support generations of students while strengthening workforce and industry needs across southern Alberta.

Their generosity continued over the years, including a 2025 contribution of $25,000 to the Board of Governors Matching Endowment Fund to support future student opportunities.

We extend our sincere condolences to Mary-Jane, the Crooks family and all those who knew Art. His legacy will continue to live on through the Crooks School of Transportation and the many students who will learn there for generations to come.
