Happy Canada Day, Huron! Today, we reflect on what makes Canada a wonderful place to live and learn.
Huron is proud to be a Canadian institution that welcomes students from across the country and around the globe. We strive to create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive campus and community. Today, we celebrate the opportunity to receive an education in a beautiful, safe, and thriving country.
Huron is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron, and Lenape peoples whose sharing and stewardship of the land has been governed by the Dish with One Spoon treaty since time immemorial. We are guided by this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship, and respect.

On Indigenous Solidarity Day, we honour the voices, histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
The Indigenous Initiatives logo offers one way to listen and learn. Created by Mushkego Cree (Treaty 9) artist and illustrator Hawlii Pichette, the design reflects Indigenous ways of knowing grounded in connection, responsibility, and balance. Through symbols like braided sweetgrass, the Tree of Life, and Amik, these symbols recognize the importance of building and maintaining respectful relationships between Huron's faculty, staff, students, and the Indigenous community.
Huron University is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron, and Lenape peoples. Under the Dish With One Spoon treaty, we are called to share and care for this land in the spirit of peace, friendship, and respect.

What does it mean to help shape Canada’s future?
At Huron University, students in the Nation Builder Program are answering that question through hands-on learning, new coursework, and meaningful connections with leaders across Canada.
Generously supported by The Schulich Foundation, the program has already expanded access to exclusive internship opportunities, introduced Contours of Canada, and welcomed hundreds of attendees to the President’s SPARK Speaker Series.
As a result, students are gaining new perspectives, building connections, and developing the skills to lead with purpose.
And this is only the beginning.
