SAINTS Rescue

Turner Construction Company was on site this week for the 5th annual build day at SAINTS.

We watched in amazement as they constructed our “smalls” a predator proof outdoor run. This run will provide a ton of enrichment for our rabbits, guinea pigs, disabled roosters, pigeons and Doves, while giving our staff the peace of mind knowing they are safe from dangers on the other side of the fence. They also built us an enrichment garden box for our barn birds and made some toys for the smalls.

We lost Greta today.
Greta became a Saint in 2022. She was a transfer from the SPCA Good Shepherd Barn. Greta had come into their care with 4 other pigs. Mama, Inky, Charles and Timbit were rehomed together but at her age, Greta needed specialized care. Greta quickly became our matriarch. She was sweet and loving and made us all smile every day. She was a dreamer (literally), often giving us scares with her sleep activities. Greta stood out. You just knew she was wise and kind hearted. She wasn't a pushover though, Greta made things go her way. She was about 16 years old and while she was doing well with her arthritis management, today she had different and serious pain. She was rushed into the clinic. An ultrasound and X-rays revealed the worst, a mass. Her discomfort level was too high. We made the only decision we could.
Greta passed peacefully.
She was loved. She had a home and a family.
We know that she was one of the lucky ones.
Really... we were the lucky ones.
