Don't poison the guests 🌱

I bet that was not on your list of things to do at your upcoming wedding.......trying not to poison the guests...well maybe it should be.

Now...while I did not always see eye to eye with my mother in law ( rest her soul) I never wanted to poison her ..well..maybe once...just kidding...yet it is surprising how often I see flowers and greens stuck into a wedding cake or other food...that are absolutely not eatable....and may cause illness or worse...

I get it . Maybe the cake is not meant to be eaten... and it's all for show and photos......but I have seen many examples of store bought flowers and greens that could potentially have synthetic residue of herbacides pesticides or funguside ...as flower are not classified as food therefore do not have the same ....rules.........
I mean...why do you think many florist wear gloves?

So when we received a flower emergency call last week for " wild flowers" for a wedding cake...we shared our concern about sticking random flower into what guests would be eating...and she totally got it. We suggested a no touch wild flower topper....to avoid having anyone perish at the wedding. We used many of our own flower and greens, all grown organically ( some of which may have been eatable but some perhaps not) and also added a few locally grown greenhouse mums.

And of course we had to make a cake to test out the topper...swipe to see the actual cake. Our cake was filled with whip cream and raspberries from farm, while the actual cake, made by was...well I don't know the flavor but it looked delightful 🎂

So the next time your want flower on your cake...try a fresh flower cake topper...a contained vessel that sits on your cake and looks beautiful ( just not eatable)

Do you think the bride liked it?

Can we make them bigger?

You bet we can........our Jars of Happy come in all kinds of sizes.......just tell us what you would like.💐

While you may be used to our grab and go size of Jars of Happy that we make up for our farm stand, we are always happy to make you something larger.🌱

Just shoot us a message and and tell us us how much happy you would like in your Jar of Happy.

As the seasons change so does the selection of flowers and greens. Actually..it changes day by day right now. It's always so exciting to see what's blooming.

This giant birthday Jar of Happy is going out today with so many of the early summer bits and baubles..... We had to spin it so you could see it all.

How happy do your think this birthday girl will be when she received this beautiful Jar of Happy?

First up, last in, need some? 🌱

As we pick our first dahlia of the season..(we totally cheated..this one was started inside)...and we plant the last tubers...we find ourselves with over 100 tubers left ..and we are blowing them out.

Right now until they are gone you will find our favorites dahlia varieties for $5.00 a tuber at our farm stand. Some are labelled, many are not, all have eyes and are sold as "mixed".

This beauty is new to us this year .. her name is Lee's Kewpie. She was hybridized by Lee Hemmings Carlton of Goldenrod Gardens in North Carolina. I can already tell she is going to be a keeper.

It's the perfect time to plant.....I will be doing so all weekend long.

Do you need some more Dahlia tubers?
