In today’s world, fair skin is often treated as a symbol of beauty, success, and social acceptance. Many people prefer lighter skin tones because of long-standing social conditioning, media influence, and outdated beauty standards that associate fairness with confidence, class, and opportunity. Advertisements, films, and social media have repeatedly reinforced the idea that fair skin means a better life, making people chase something that has nothing to do with character, talent, or self-worth.
This obsession with fair skin is not natural—it is learned. True beauty lies in confidence, individuality, and authenticity, not in the color of one’s skin. It’s time to question these standards, break free from stereotypes, and value people for who they are, not how light or dark their skin appears.
Mall Road, Lahore – Built Because of a Deadly Epidemic
Mall Road is often admired as one of Lahore’s most iconic and beautiful roads, but very few people know the real reason behind its creation.
In the mid-19th century, Lahore was severely affected by cholera (Heza) outbreaks. Narrow streets, poor sanitation, stagnant air, and overcrowded localities allowed the disease to spread rapidly. The situation posed a serious threat to British officials, soldiers, and administrative staff stationed in the city.
To control the epidemic and improve urban health conditions, the British administration planned a wide, open, and well-ventilated road. This road allowed better air circulation, improved sanitation, and connected major government and military buildings.
This necessity led to the construction of what we now know as Mall Road, Lahore.
