A place to rest, restore, and grow.

You snapped at someone today. Or maybe it was yesterday.

Over something so small you can barely explain it now. A question asked one too many times. One more thing added to an already full day.

And the moment the words left your mouth, you knew. That wasn’t really about this.

The truth is, moments like these usually aren’t about one comment or one inconvenience. They’re often a sign that your nervous system was already carrying more than it could hold.

Maybe you’d been holding everyone else together while quietly pushing your own needs aside and by the time that moment happened, your body was already running on empty.

We often tell ourselves we just need to “stay calm” or “be more patient,” as though it’s simply a matter of thinking differently.

But when your nervous system has been stuck in survival mode, your body will often react before your mind has a chance to catch up.

That doesn’t mean we aren’t responsible for how we respond. We can still repair, reconnect, and learn from those moments.

It also means we can meet ourselves with curiosity instead of shame. Because sometimes the moment that spills over isn’t really the problem. It’s simply the moment that showed us how much we’ve been carrying.

Have you ever looked back on a reaction and realized there was so much more underneath it than that one moment?

There are moments when things feel a little too full - your thoughts move quickly, your body feels tense, and it can be hard to land anywhere steady.

In those moments, the focus doesn’t need to be fixing anything. It’s simply about offering your system small cues of safety and connection.

You might try…

Butterfly tapping to gently settle the body
A hand on your chest and belly to reconnect inward
Slow belly breathing to soften the edges of overwhelm
Tracing your fingers slowly as a way to ground back into the present moment.

Nothing about this needs to be perfect or done a certain way. It’s less about technique and more about the message you’re sending your nervous system: you’re here, and you’re safe enough in this moment.

These small practices can become quiet anchors you return to throughout your day (especially when life feels like it’s asking a lot).

And if you ever feel like you need more support in learning how to work with your nervous system in a deeper, more personalized way, this is the kind of space we hold within our work - gentle, paced, and centred on helping you come back to yourself in a way that feels safe and doable.

One small moment at a time is enough 🤍

We talk a lot about rest like it’s simple... just sit down, breathe, unwind.

But for a lot of us, rest doesn’t come easily. Even in quiet moments, something inside stays braced. Alert. Waiting.

That’s not a personal failing. It’s a nervous system that learned, somewhere along the way, that staying “on” was how you got through. And nervous systems don’t just switch that off because your calendar clears up.

If this feels familiar, you’re not alone and you’re not doing anything wrong.

Nervous system regulation isn’t about willpower. It’s about helping your body relearn what safety actually feels like, at a pace that makes sense for you.

That’s the kind of work we do at Nurturing Roots through therapy, EMDR, osteopathy, and nervous system coaching that meets you where you are.

If you’re curious what that could look like for you, we’d love to talk. 🌿

You don’t have to have it figured out to start.

Most people arrive here feeling full and carrying exhaustion sleep doesn’t fix, tension they’ve learned to live with, or just a quiet sense of “I don’t feel like myself lately.”

We start where the body is asking for support first. Not fixing, not pushing, just enough space to breathe, and to notice you’re not as far from yourself as it felt.

From there, healing isn’t linear. It’s something you move in and out of, deepening when you’re ready.
That’s the work we do here…through psychotherapy, somatic & energy work, and osteopathy. Different doors, same intention: helping you come back into yourself.

We’d be glad to walk with you. Link in bio. 🌿

Tess is a Registered Psychotherapist who brings a grounded, compassionate presence to her work with both children and adults. She has a deep passion for supporting families as a whole system, and meeting people where they are in whatever season they’re in.

Her approach is gentle, relational, and rooted in nervous-system awareness, helping clients better understand what’s happening beneath the surface and reconnect with a sense of safety within themselves.

She’s especially drawn to the early layers of connection and development in children, while also holding space for adults navigating stress, overwhelm, trauma, and life transitions. At the heart of her work is a belief that healing doesn’t have to feel rushed or forced - it can feel steady, supported, and human.

Have you ever noticed that your shoulder hurts, but stretching it never seems to help?

Or your low back aches even though that’s not where your injury began?

Our bodies are incredibly adaptable. When one area isn’t moving well, another area often steps in to compensate. Over time, those compensations can create tension, stiffness, and pain somewhere completely different.

Osteopathic care looks beyond the area that’s hurting to understand how your body is working together as a whole.
By restoring movement and reducing unnecessary strain, we aim to help your body function more comfortably and efficiently.

Because lasting relief often begins by understanding the bigger picture.

Listening to your body isn’t giving up. It’s recognizing that your needs aren’t fixed.

Sometimes you need more movement.
Sometimes you need more rest.
Sometimes you need support you didn’t need before.

The healthiest thing we can do isn’t cling to old expectations, it’s stay connected to what’s true for us now.

What is your body asking for lately? 🌿

You can have a full life and still feel a little far from yourself.

That part doesn’t always get talked about.

The way you keep going, keep showing up, keep doing what needs to be done...while something in you feels quietly tired underneath it all.

Not broken. Just stretched.

I think a lot of us are carrying more than we realize, and not always in obvious ways.

Maybe this is just a small reminder to come back to yourself in a way that feels gentle. Not all at once. Just here and there, in small moments.

A few extra minutes with your coffee outside before the day begins. Pausing long enough to notice your child’s laughter. Feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. Listening to the birds instead of rushing to the next thing. Taking one slow breath before answering the phone.

Tiny moments that remind you that you’re here, too.
Sometimes it’s not about doing more. It’s about being a little more intentional with what is already here.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads showing up every day.

To the fathers, stepfathers, single dads, grandfathers, and father figures - thank you for the ways you love, support, teach, and care.

We also recognize those who are grieving, longing to become fathers, navigating difficult relationships, or carrying complicated feelings today.

Wherever you are on your journey, we see you.

And a special Happy Father’s Day to George, whose steady presence, patience, and love shape our little girl’s world every day. Thank you for the bedtime stories, the soccer practices, the comforting hugs, the moments of silliness, and the countless ways you show up, even when no one is watching. Your dedication to both your family and the people you care for through your work never goes unnoticed. We are so grateful for all that you do and the heart you bring to it all.
