Lately, I’ve been trying to nudge my son away from graphic novels like Dog Man, Captain Underpants, and The Bad Guys (all great fun, but sometimes we need a new challenge!) and into something a bit deeper. Enter The Wild Robot by Peter Brown—a story that stretched both of us in the best way.

We decided to buddy read it together, a fantastic way to make reading a shared adventure. We’d take turns reading chapters, pausing to talk about the story, and sharing reactions. And let me tell you, the discussions we had were pure gold. My favorite part? Him warning me not to cry during certain emotional moments... and, of course, I always cried.
