Another weekend of amazing events within our community!
The Milton Seventh-Day Adventist Church raised awareness and spoke out against intimate partner violence and crimes against children. The End It Now campaign, under Nerine Ward’s guidance, reminds us of the importance of being kind to one another and teaches the importance of speaking up against these hateful behaviours.
The conversations did not stop there. I had the opportunity to speak with many of my fellow Ward 4 residents to discuss the importance of traffic safety, pride in our community, keeping our youth active, the CN-Matthews proposal, continued investment in fire safety and economic development.
Let’s keep the conversations going!
centrecanadiendelafamille also hosted AfroJazz Fest at Milton Community Park. Saturday’s highlights included cultural dances and a community dance off - but was cut short when the storm rolled in. I returned Sunday to enjoy more of the entertainment which included vocalists, steel-pan group Panatics and so many more! A huge thank you to the organizers for bringing this event to our community.
I also need to mention the Milton Mosaic Festival which was held last weekend at Milton Community Park. I had a chance to stop by before heading off to the AMO conference and spoke with a few of the organizers and vendors. I hear the event was a well attended and successful! Another display of our community coming together.

What a weekend!!
This weekend was packed with so much activity. Saturday morning started off at the farmersmarketmilton. Friends, food, vendors - the Farmer’s Market never disappoints.
Next it was off to the Grand Opening of the miltonwarehouseoutlet. To say the launch was a success is an understatement! Owners Parul and Bijal were met with a packed parking lot and a so many satisfied customers that the stockroom was emptied by lunch.
Next it was off to the miltonafrica_festival where I was greeted by an unforgettable rhythm and invited to dance (it was a blast, but I definitely need some more lessons!)
Then on to the ancimcanada for SummerFest. Right when I arrived it started to pour - but our spirit was not dampened at all. In fact, the crowd gathered close and belted out the Canadian National Anthem. We appreciated the rain and then welcomed back the sun. We celebrated ANCiM’s highschool graduates heading off to University. We cooked on the BBQ and danced to the music.
Then came Sunday. I headed over to the Trunk Share hosted by sustainablemilton and miltonmuslimmomsofficial where not only could you donate or receive items for free,
you could get your bike fixed and also support some local vendors. These events remind us how important it is to reuse and recycle wherever possible and to take time and care for our environment.
Next stop was Sherwood Community Centre where I attended aamiranauthor book launch of his debut novel, Under the Full and Crescent Moon. The discussion was honest, thought provoking and enlightening. If you are looking for your next read, consider supporting this local author.
At the end of the weekend, I was left with a fulfilling sense of community. Kindness was everywhere and Miltonians were celebrated in many different ways.
Let’s do it again next weekend!

Yesterday I attended the 11th Annual Milton Coptic Festival held at the Fairgrounds.
Father Kyrillos, the SGSA Board Members and more than 150 volunteers organized, hosted and welcomed the community to this event. Our community was seen enjoying a zip line, The Big Splash, activities for toddlers, a Coptic Heritage Tour, delicious food, a visit with Milton Fire and so much more!
Thank you to the organizers and volunteers for all your hard work. Another great example of why our community is so amazing!

Another busy weekend in the books!
The smoke cleared, the storms came, but the events still went on!
The Farmer’s Market was a great scene to start Saturday. We were able to get some of our favourites to enjoy over the weekend including local honey, perogies, strudel, tarts, fresh milk and a fresh loaf of sourdough.
Congratulations to the Muslim Association of Milton on another successful BBQ. The community had the opportunity to enjoy some delicious food, explore and meet vendors and learn more about MAM. Your continued support of the Milton and Oakville Hospital Foundations helps our community in their time of need and is very appreciated.
Sunday celebrated inclusivity with the Halton Pride Parade. The biggest turn out yet! So much love and kindness was being spread! A huge thank you to Pride Halton and their volunteers for an amazing event. But it did not stop there, Pride in the Park showcased Halton vendors who offered food, clothing, services and support to the Halton community.
This weekend also marked SAMM’s (Neev) 10th annual picnic. The community was entertained with drumming, caricatures and local vendors. Food was shared and FIFA was quietly being monitored.
Sunday was also National Ice Cream Day! We ended a great weekend with some scoops from one of our many great local parlours!
A great weekend overall all because of our great community!
