It was pretty cool to see this eastern kingbird feeding its young, the hand held video I show was stable for once but the wind kept blowing the branch out of frame so it’s not exactly useable or I would have attached it.
I barley get to see these birds so I was pretty excited to capture some young ones

Often overlooked, called annoying yet these birds are simply beautiful. The red wing black bird isn’t the first to sing when spring arrives but it’s a noticeable song that sparks the joy of knowing the time for all the birds is coming soon.
Early spring I was excited to see these birds back in action and as summer goes on yes I have target species I’d like to photograph but something I’m still learning recently is to just take the photo when it gives you the opportunity

Putting this together when you have no motivation, feeling down and just not wanting to do your daily routine has made me appreciate just any encounter I come across.
As many others have said on here before and videos and stories ( Gavin Mccue ) we only see the good. We always see the happy. We see these amazing subjects that we just wish we could get, but not every day is gonna be like that I took this video of a snapping turtle that came across a path while I was on a four hour walk looking for a creative subject, and it just appeared didn’t plan. It didn’t know what to do. I wanted to move them to help him to get out of the scorching heat, but I knew I have to leave nature how it is it will find its own way this big guy over here made his way to the pond to get out of the heat, and I took the time to just strictly observe them. Yes, this has a small video clip some stills, but I mainly just stood there and appreciated how prehistoric and how long this species has been around. he’ll probably outlive me and that is the take away from today appreciation.

I often hear king fishers but rarely do I ever get close enough for the sharp detail in their feathers, on this day I saw one on an isolated perch fishing and I tried my best to get close enough without scaring it, as you can see not super detailed and I did end up scarring off to the other side of the pond but I’m not going to complain these still turned out good.

I’m not a huge insect person but I always love seeing bumblebees, gathering some pollen in the backyard.

On Friday I witness something heartbreaking, this Red squirrel was feeding in one of the trees in my front yard, at first I thought it was cute how it was dangling one of its limbs off the branch almost like its to hot to move kind of way.
I later found out it looks like its back right leg doesn’t work ( now there are no visible wounds of blood on it ) so it might have been born that way? it’s still able to climb and feed so I didn’t feel the need to call any animal services, I have seen it since in the same tree playing around with the birds and other squirrels that feed in the same tree but thought to myself sometimes things aren’t always as cute as we make them out to be.
( third photo you can see it dangling off the branch) other then that it looks healthy

Happy Canada Day !! 🍁🇨🇦
Two weeks ago I captured this domestic duck and it’s stunning all white feathers and bright yellow/ orange bill made for such perfect rippled reflecting against the dark tree background.

Finally! I managed to capture a decent photograph of an American Redstart, this may be a very common species for most but I’ve been trying to photograph one with some detail for the past 2 years.
Every year I seem to miss certain periods where these birds migrate and are large numbers like the scarlet tanager, that is another one that alludes me.
