Another exceptional result for Zero Energy Homes
The best time to test a home's airtightness is before it's finished, and this project delivered outstanding results.
Using the Passive House testing methodology, Justin Smith of Homesol completed both depressurization and pressurization testing. The home performed so well that both tests produced identical results.
🏡 Bungalow | Slab-on-grade | ICF Construction
🔹 0.06 ACH
🔹 25 cfm50
🔹 0.0030 cfm50/ft² NLR
🔹 2.8 in² Equivalent Leakage Area
That's about as tight as it gets and a testament to thoughtful design, quality materials, and exceptional attention to detail.
Congratulations to the entire project team on another outstanding build!

Another strong day of airtightness testing in Smiths Falls with Park View Homes
We individually tested four attached bungalow units, and each one delivered impressive, consistent results with NLR (cfm/ft²) scores of 0.08 and 0.09. Tight, consistent builds like these don’t happen by accident. Great attention to detail from the entire team. 👏
Keep up the great work!

Why does air barrier design matter more than you might think?
An effective air barrier is not just about energy savings—it's about creating a comfortable, healthy, and durable living space. When designed and installed correctly, it controls moisture, prevents drafts, and protects your home from costly damage over time.
For example, Homesol's recent projects show airtightness levels as low as 0.03 ACH, meaning barely any air leaks in or out. This precision keeps indoor temperatures stable, reduces heating and cooling costs, and prevents moisture buildup that can lead to mold and structural decay.
What this means for you is simple: a well-designed air barrier improves your comfort year-round, lowers energy bills, and extends the lifespan of your home's structure. It's a foundational step toward sustainable, cost-effective living.
