Argan oil is Morocco’s best-kept beauty secret. Often called ‘liquid gold’, this certified organic Moroccan oil is amongst the most beneficial cosmetic oils. It is extracted from the kernels of the fruit of the argan tree. This tree is found almost exclusively in the drylands of southern Morocco.
Historically, it was women who would collect the fruit and extract the oil and their husbands would sell it or trade it. However, now women’s co-operatives have been established to meet the rising demand of argan oil in exchange for the harvesting women being given fair pay for preparing the oil as well as an opportunity for an improved quality of life.
