Tuesday night was an unforgettable event as I conducted The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra through a monumental program. The magic we created together was truly awe-inspiring.
Saint-Saëns' beautiful and energetic Piano Concerto No. 1, with the brilliant Malachi Rozenbaum His performance perfectly balanced energy and elegance, captivating the audience from the very start.
We were honored to present the world premiere of Amnon Wolman's Concerto for Piano, Computerized Technology, and Orchestra. Pianist Hagai Yodan was extraordinary, skillfully navigating this innovative blend of orchestration and technology with outstanding musicality, grace, and flair.
The concert climbed to its zenith with Camille Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 3, Op. 78 in C minor, known as the "Organ Symphony." The breathtaking sound of the organ, masterfully played by Boris Zobin, filled the hall with grandeur and depth that seemed to transcend time.
We concluded with the hauntingly beautiful Symphonic Poem Danse Macabre, Op. 40, featuring a stunning solo by the Jerusalem Symphony Concertmaster, Janna Gandelman. Her passionate rendition brought this fascinating dance of death to life, ending the night on a high note.
Thank you to our soloists, wonderful and devoted musicians of the orchestra, composer Amnon Wolman, the Jerusalem Theater Piano Festival, and Prof. Michael Wolpe for his unwavering dedication to creating magic by bringing his vision to reality.

Tomorrow night, at the Knesset, I will be conducting the The Israeli Andalusian Orchestra in a big concert of “S’lichot” hosting Shuli Rand, Amir Benayoun, Eli Luzon, Lior Elmaleh, Gusto and Shir Ifrah.

A Grammy Award winner, Roï Azoulay is a Montreal-based conductor who has served as Music Director of Congregation Shaar Hashomayim since 2014.
He has conducted many orchestras, including the l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the McGill Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Chamber Orchestra, as well as many others in the U.S., Europe and Israel.
Roï Azoulay arranged music and conducted his choir on the final Leonard Cohen album, “You Want It Darker,” for which he won the Grammy and Juno Awards.
Roï Azoulay studied conducting, composition and theory at the prestigious Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and pursued further training in conducting with Professors Mendi Rodan, Eugène Zirlin and Doron Salomon.
