Design Is Yummy

A million stamps, a little mazel, and a whole lot of tsuris.

We’re closing out our 10th season designing for the Segal Centre with Di Shvegerins, and what a way to go out.

Di Shvegerins is Michel Tremblay’s Les Belles-sœurs reimagined in Yiddish, and it is iconic: working-class Montreal, 1960s kitchens, a million stamps, and a room full of women with something to say.

For this poster, we put the main character front-and-centre: curlers in, housecoat on, phone in hand, and that look of pure delighted chaos on her face. She’s framed in a giant stamp (because of course she is), with golden stamps bursting out like the whole thing is about to take flight.
