Rules of the mind!
When I was in training for RTT one of the most eye opening parts of my studies was learning a list of rules that our minds adhere to. It all made so much sense. Here is the list. It is my bet that each of you can relate to most if not all that is listed. Let me know what you think!

RULES OF THE MIND (HOW THE MIND WORKS):

1. The mind learns by repetition.
2. The mind cannot hold conflicting beliefs or thoughts. They cancel out each other.
3. What is expected tends to be realized.
4. Imagination is more powerful than knowledge - when dealing with your mind or the minds of others.
5. In a battle between emotion and logic, emotion always wins.
6. Your mind always does what it thinks you want it to do.
7. Your mind works to move you from pain to pleasure.
8. Your mind responds to the pictures and words you install.
9. Your mind wants to stay with what is familiar while avoiding what is unfamiliar.
10. Whatever you focus on, you get more of.
11. You make your beliefs and then your beliefs make you.
12. The strongest force in all of us is that we must act in a way that consistently matches our thinking.
13. Your thoughts form a blueprint that your mind and body work to make your reality.
14. What you present to your mind, your mind will present back to you.
15. Your mind does not care if what you say is good, bad, indifferent, true, false, healthy, unhealthy, right, or wrong - it simply acts on your words regardless.
16. Every thought you think causes a physical reaction and an emotional response.
17. When dealing with the subconscious mind, the greater the conscious effort the less it responds.

Understanding ourselves is one of the most powerful things we can do for ourselves because that is what enables us to change!

Did you know that dieting has a 98% fail rate? So why do we collectively spend billions on something that has such a high guarantee of failure? It's because we are repeatedly convinced that that is the right method for losing weight.

It's in the convincing that marketers excel and they know what they are doing. They are selling you a feeling, because everything in life is all about the feeling.

Hypnosis is too. It focuses on the feelings and helps to change the feelings we have that have got us where we are at and clients don't come to me to get rid of a good feeling. I'm not just talking about weight here. Clients just want to feel better.

When it comes to excess, unhealthy weight on the body we focus on understanding the feelings that the client is attaching to whatever behaviors they have when it comes to food. Believe me, it isn't about will power, it's about the feelings that have undermined a person's healthy relationship with food. It then becomes, something that they may use to protect, harm or punish themselves.

Hypnosis is a worthwhile invest in yourself in all aspects of your life and so is the commitment to feel better.

Last year I was reminded of a phrase that I'd come across in the course of my training to do RTT.

Hurt people, hurt people and angry people are just really hurt people.

I had to reflect on this phrase because I was feeling a lot of anger and frustration towards my husband. His words were hitting a nerve and I didn't like it. I wasn't happy. He spelled that out and he couldn't understand why.

He was right. I wasn't happy, because I felt like he was putting me on the back burner and this wasn't new.

So I went for a walk to reflect on everything I was feeling.

As I walked, I was thinking he always does this to me. Whatever he wants is more important, he interrupts me and has expectations that I can drop whatever I'm doing to what he needs me to do.

Those words also reminded me that he hasn't done anything different. His expectations of me has never changed so WHY am I so angry now?

Surprisingly enough, an answer dropped into my mind quite clearly. I felt as though I didn't matter. What I wanted didn't matter and how I felt didn't matter. I wanted my business to grow and flourish yet, I still had so much work to do on it. The main thing was a website, which I didn't have at the time. I wanted to create it myself so I had to learn and that needed time and energy. I felt that my husband was imposing on my time to do what I needed for me.

So, I began to tell myself that I mattered. What I wanted mattered, how I felt mattered and what I did mattered.

Fast forward a few weeks and I find myself in another wave of emotion that upset me. Again, I asked myself why was I feeling the way I was feeling. Again, it came to me that I still felt as though I didn't matter.

So, off I go on another walk and I asked myself why. Why do I feel like I do not matter?

This time clarity came through so beautifully. It was as though I was sitting with a therapist and they were asking me questions to which a deep insight was responding to. It was all me, but completely unbiased in its response.

The thoughts of my business came forth again. I still had so much to do and I still didn't even have a website. The therapist within asked, so what are you doing about it? I then saw myself sitting in front of the TV after supper until bedtime. I also saw my ways of procrastinating when I did have time during the day. A dawning realization became quite clear when I saw that it was I who was treating my wants and dreams as though they didn't matter. It was a huge ah ha moment that I will never forget.

That was enough to spur me into action and within day I built my website and began promoting my business.

You may have heard another phrase. When we point a finger out then three are pointing back in. That was my case to a perfect "T".

You see, our emotions are our guide posts. When we are feeling bad we tend to point the finger out. He did this, or she said that and I felt this because of whatever someone else did. But if we started to analyze why we feel the feeling, we may find that it is something within.

So, here's the deal. To feel bad can be the first step toward self discovery. To feel the feeling is to begin healing. Yet you cannot heal if you don't understand the why. It is, what is not understood or left unfelt and unanswered that will, over time begin to affect the body.

This is when physical issues are "unexplained" in the medical community. I get so very excited for a prospective client when they tell me that there is no medical reason for their ailment or condition because I know without a doubt that there is an underlying, unresolved set of feelings based on false beliefs that create the problem.

Sometimes we need help to get to the root of the cause or the issue. That's when thinking outside the box will help. I tell people never stop with the one that says there is nothing that can be done. Go further. Always, go further and think differently.

So the key take away from this post is to learn to begin to question the why to the bad feeling you're feeling whatever that may be and listen for your own insight. No one knows you better than you.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!
