PPWC Local 8 hosted our first Organizing training on May 4 and 5, 2026. A huge thank you to all Locals for making this a success. Also, a special thank you to Jan Noster, Executive Director, for coming to the Island to conduct the training.

Every year on April 28, workers across the country recognize the National Day of Mourning. Unions like the PPWC Local 8 have long played a central role in advancing health and safety standards across industries. Through decades of advocacy, education, and collective bargaining, unions have helped secure critical protections that many workers now take for granted: safer equipment, stronger regulations, the right to refuse unsafe work, and joint health and safety committees. These gains were not handed down. They were fought for through persistence, solidarity, and, too often, in response to tragedy.
