Our Story
Humanity In Art was founded in 2013 in Nanaimo, B.C. by street artist Humanity (Lys Glassford), and quickly became known for local community improvement projects and murals on residential, urban, and business canvasses.
In 2017, Humanity In Art relaunched as a new partnership with Unity (Lauren Semple), and with a newly formed not-for-profit foundation, Humanity in Community, dedicated to supporting local street artists and public art urban rehabilitation projects.
In 2018 Humanity In Community successfully tackled the “old A&B Sound building” and transformed this downtown Nanaimo eyesore into the city’s first Urban Art Gallery and Open Art Wall.
