I Wonder Where My Baby Is Tonight was published in 1925, with lyrics by the prolific Gus Kahn and music by Walter Donaldson, one of Tin Pan Alley's most successful songwriting teams. The song became closely associated with Canadian-born singer Henry Burr, one of the biggest recording stars of the acoustic and early electrical recording era. Burr is believed to have made well over 12,000 recordings during his remarkable career—an astonishing number that earned him recognition as one of the most recorded singers of the early 20th century.
