Let's talk about White Space!

Over the years I've found that a lot of people confuse white space is literally having white space on your page. This is definitely not the case.

White space actually refers to the spaces between the elements within a design. Whether it's text or graphics, white space is an incredibly important aspect to any design. When done properly, it will allow the viewers eyes to flow freely across the piece and improve legibility within the piece.

- Visuals & Graphics -

Allowing proper balance between visual items will help increase readability, as well as comprehension of what your overall message is trying to tell your audience.

White space also allows your eyes to move more freely across the page or simply focus on your main message.

- Text -

It's important to have proper spacing with text because it can become illegible very quickly.

Adjusting something as simple as the Leading ( The distance between the baselines of type) can open up the design and make it way more readable. If your audience has to work to get the content, you're going to lose them quickly,

Do you have a design you would like reviewed?

If you're looking for a designer, we will work with you step-by-step to ensure that you receive the highest quality your business demands!

Branding can be an exciting and challenging part of building any business.

Often, startups get so excited about breaking into their industry that they overlook the small details, like consistency in branding.

Your brand represents your business, your hard work, and your dreams. Take some time, research, and then hire a designer. You're a pro in your field, we're pro's in ours!

A big mistake that is often made is hiring a family member to design and create your content. PLEASE don't do that. Believe it or not, design takes a lot of training and you actually have to have an eye for design, colour, and a strong spatial sense.

Designers can also use their experience to make some incredibly helpful suggestions and even kick your brand into the next level. (That's our job)

We live for the "WOW Factor!".

Here is a basic branding checklist:

• Establish and research your target audience & competitors

• Design / research logo ideas (hire a designer😉 trust me!)

• Pick a font family - gives you a variety to choose from while staying consistent

• Consider a slogan or tag line (always cross reference)

• Work with your designer to choose the look and feel of your brand (colours & font)

• Implement your branding across your business

If you already have an established business, some of these will not apply to you. That being said, it never hurts to review your current strategy and design to see if you may have missed anything.

Branding should be designed to evolve over time.

Cheers!
