As we reflect on 2023, we revert back to our word of the year which was BE PRESENT.

This year brought us many opportunities, both locally and around the globe. We intentionally took on less weddings, opting to work with the ones that truly valued stationery and how it sets the tone and carries it throughout. Playing a big part in their day from the very beginning straight through to the end. We focused on brand and logo design, and building up other businesses through consistent graphic design and coaching. We expanded our reach from Ottawa to the states. Taking on clients who were referred to us rather than chasing them. We got to travel again, sparking adventure, inspiration and recharge. We spent the year being present with everything we did; creating relationships with our clients, memories with our friends and family and pushing our comfort zone to make space for new. We’re so grateful for each and every one of you!

2024’s word of the year will be EVOLVE.

With this word comes change, improvement and learning. We have a lot coming your way and it’s going to stretch us to make room for growth and exciting possibilities. (This holiday has been so good for the soul.)

Karen and Kat eloped under a canopy of green leaves and warm wind, surrounded by 30 of their closest.

Their love story is a beautiful one; influenced by their laid back lifestyle, creative minds and central focus on peace and support.

We designed their invitations to be all-in-one. A trifold suite sealed with a sage green wax seal. Surrounded by watercolour foliage, guests were informed with the pertinent information, along with a 3-day itinerary timeline, complete with campfire nights, live music and yoga on the water.

Their day-of stationery pieces were minimal but intentional. Custom place cards with meal choices were tied to napkins with a shared family-style menu announcing the delicious dinner.

Both Karen and Kat own and operate . Ottawa’s incredible team of officiants who put love first, no matter what.

Our most favourite piece of advice ever and one you’ve heard us say time and time again;

Never stop dating each other.

This one act, which we all used to do way back when you first started dating and were getting to know each other, easily fades away to everyday responsibilities, lack of motivation, life stresses and time. BUT! Intentionally setting time aside for the two of you has so many benefits for your marriage. It builds better communication between you both, gives your endorphins a hit, reminds you of why you love each other, keeps the flame going, separates you from everyday stresses, encourages you to try something new, grants you a “break” from everyday responsibilities, and so on!

Whether you’re going out for dinner, a show, coffee and a walk, hotel escape, new city tour, trying a new cocktail, taking a class together or even just Netflix and chill in your own living room. Taking time for each other is key.

The husband and I had a local escape at back in the fall to celebrate our anniversary. We hired for a fun shoot, then had an incredible meal at after. It made me fall in love with him even more. And we continually look back at our photos and remember this moment in time where we could be us, and how important “we” are in this life together. 👉 Swipe to see some photos from the uber talented Rubicon duo.
