Today is National Sewing Machine Day🧵

On June 13, 1790, English inventor Thomas Saint was granted the very first patent for a mechanical sewing machine, designed for leather and canvas. While it would be another 40 years before a fully functional machine came to life, Saint’s designs were revolutionary and laid the groundwork for everything that followed! 🙌
