Declutter Ottawa

Before and after my declutter challenge!

My goal was to downsize the content of our home to keeping only things that we love, use regularly or provides education to our kids. Well turns out it equalled a lot of things and ended up filling our garage. While trying to sort trough it all I came across this 30 day declutter challenge and that's when I fell in love!

Rules were simple: Day 1 get rid of 30 things, day 2 get rid of 29 things, day 3 - 28 things and so on! Total amount of items removed from my home 575! I decided to take it one step further and use BCG ( Barrhaven Community Giving) it's a free Facebook group where families can donate what ever they like to their community; what a win/win scenario that was. My undesired items going to families who would love them again; that's the ultimate in recycling right there.

So after 30 days I was finally able to park our van back into the garage.

Yeah!
