PRINT YOUR OWN BALLOTS

If you are an electoral commission happy with paying the high cost and exorbitant price to print ballots this is NOT for you.

However, if you are an Electoral Commission/EMB with a small # of reregistered voters, +- 2million, interested in saving valuable financial resources, looking to avoid high costs of expensive international printers, costly airfreight, and seek to bring home and control the process of printing ballots on home turf while developing local capacity and skills...this is for YOU.

With a high volume printer, shown in picture, you can do just that. Knock of 2m ballots in about a week or so, just days before the polls open and assure that no costly mistakes require last minute reprints! You will want to learn more if you want to save more. In the beginning…well around early mid 90s newly emerging democracies were popping up all over the place. Many in Africa, the Caribbean and in other good governance hot spots around the world. The business of ballots began to blossom! It was a busy time for new electoral enterprises. A few countries were already experienced in the ways of the vote, others new to the game. And entrepreneurs & organizations rushed in to supply the growing number of material needs! At first there was a variety of items, some similar to school supplies coming from all directions. Then someone organized and consolidated materials in bulk. An interesting mix of goods along with services to deliver them, some to particularly challenging destinations! Then, some of the folks I worked with decided to look at putting all the items in a box. It was kind of a picnic basket for polling stations. The Idea caught on, and like Bertha my big beautiful blue ballot box, everyone jumped on the polling station kit wagon. Experts came out of the woodwork. I played a leading role in the development of this process. But then every Tom, Dick, n’ Harry is on to it. So, it was time to keep thinking innovatively.

A mobile kit…why not a mobile station. The mobile station was coming to life. Big Bertha had a bigger baby blue brother. The Mobile Polling Station. A polling station KIT but the polling place itself was the KIT.

Many countries used the shade of the village, town, or community palaver tree. It worked for a while, but the weather did not always agree.

The big blue polling kit is a tent, in this case a 4X4m easy to erect structure with windows and doors, tables and chairs with appropriate signage for directions. We can include up to two ballot boxes and voting booths. All for about $400.00. All packed into a 20 - or 40 - foot container.

A host of other essential items can easily be added to further customize the kit to make this a highly functioning polling station out in the wild in a matter of hours. Also, we have a suggested list of other camp materials that make the station a functional place to vote.
