Our CVHM Team is excited to re-introduce a familiar face — welcome back Laura Gauthier, RVT/CARP! Laura has just returned from furthering her education and rehabilitation skills, having recently completed the Companion Animal Rehabilitation Program at Northern College!🐾🙌
Here’s a little bit about Laura for the folks who haven’t met her yet:
Hello McNeely & Carleton Clients! Allow me to reintroduce myself: My name is Laura and for as long as I can remember I have wanted to work with animals and support them through every stage of their lives.
I graduated from Algonquin College in 2023 from the Veterinary Technician program. Then, I received my Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license following graduation that same year. Shortly after graduating from Algonquin College and obtaining my RVT license, I started working with the team at McNeely Animal Hospital, where I worked for 2 years before deciding to further my career in animal rehabilitation.
I recently attended Northern College for a year in their Companion Animal Rehabilitation program up North, which is open exclusively to graduates of veterinary technician programs. I graduated from the program with honours this past April and have now returned to work with CVHM to better serve our patients. I am certified to perform laser therapy, therapeutic exercises, underwater treadmill therapy, and massage therapy, among other services, and can’t wait to play a role in your pet’s rehabilitation care plan.
Laura is now welcoming new clients in our rehabilitation services program, and can’t wait to tailor a treatment plan for your pet’s individual needs!
Contact our team at McNeely Animal Hospital or Carleton Veterinary Services to schedule your pets rehabilitation appointment with Laura, or to find out more information about our rehabilitation services!🐾

July 1st is almost here and Canada Day celebrations are underway! Our team has put together some top-notch tips to help our clients and patients enjoy a safe and happy celebration!🐾🇨🇦
Use our list of tips as a checklist to ensure your pet’s safety this Canada Day! Be sure to spread the word by saving and sharing with a fellow pet parent!
Not all pets enjoy celebrating with loud noises (especially booming fireworks), big crowds and cannot handle sweltering heat and rising temperatures. Consider keeping your pet’s indoors where they are cool, safe and secure.
Wishing our clients and patients a safe and happy Canada Day! A friendly reminder that we are closed Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 and will return to our regular clinic hours the following day.

Fireworks season is approaching 🎆
For many pets, loud noises aren’t just startling. They can trigger significant fear and anxiety. Noise aversion can worsen over time without support, which is why early conversations with clients matter.
Common signs may include:
🐾 Panting or pacing
🐾 Hiding or escape attempts
🐾 Vocalization
🐾 Destructive behavior
🐾 Restlessness or inability to settle
Encourage pet owners to prepare before fireworks begin by creating a safe retreat space, using calming strategies, and speaking with their veterinary team about behavioral support or medications if needed.
The earlier noise aversion is addressed, the better the outcome may be for the pet’s long-term wellbeing.
