It all start with the idea that balayage is focused at the mid-length going to the ends of the hair. It gives dimension and brightness on specific points and gives that nice and natural appearance that we like.
Highlights usually starts from roots to ends and requires more maintenance. As balayage does not start touching the roots, it does dot require the maintenance that regular highlights usually does.
