What is ARDEN and BBHN? Can Amateur radio license holders transmit on 2.4 and 5Ghz just like Wifi? Could we use this to send voice, data, video? The short answer is yes! We have special frequencies, can increase the power if needed, but interesting CANNOT encrypt data! All your answers are either available from https://www.arednmesh.org/ or http://www.broadband-hamnet.org/

Ok, so you are looking for repeaters, well there is an APP for that! Why am I not shocked, try this one for Android. I don't have any Apple phones, so I can't tell you if it is available for iPhone. Any one want to look and comment?

Ok, so I've been talking to some folk interested in getting a HAM ticket (aka Amateur Radio License). I will post a list of websites and resources shortly. Any existing HAMS out there that see this, feel free to comment on the process for Canada. To start with right off, I suggest getting familiar with the Industry Canada website, particularly this page:
https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/025.nsf/eng/home and
https://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf01862.html
This actually should answer all questions, but I will look for some addition information. For fun, I've added the Canadian Radio Frequency Spectrum list, enjoy!

It has been very quiet, and sadly the hobby has taken a hit with the lack of time this year. On the up side the good weather is here, time to get up there and re-align that dish for some bounce connections!
