Pilgrim Stoneworks

An interesting picture of cutting the granite to be able to lay a staircase on Stoney lake. It’s always a beautiful day when you gotta pull out the big saws.

As a follow up here’s a nice photo emma sent me of the log cabin that we restored last year in the spring.

So this was a restoration of one of the original pioneer cabins in Douro dummer that has been transformed into a garage. The mortar that seemed to be a heavy Portland based mud from the 60s had shrunk and fallen out or had stopped holding the elements and animals. With a quick removal of previous material and prep work, this building being chinked with a traditional lime mortar should be living a lot longer.

Major repointing on this wall, just wanted to show the before and after in a repointing. Before hand the wall was soaked with water after every rain, now it’s dry and better looking than before
